|& 将第一个命令的标准输出和标准错误连接到第二个命令，而|仅将第一个命令的标准输出连接到第二个命令。

在此示例中，页面通过 curl 下载。与 -v 选项 curl 在 stderr 上写了一些信息，包括，下载的页面写在 stdout 上。页面标题可以在 <title> 和 </title> 之间找到。

curl -vs 'http://www.google.com/' |& awk '/Host:/{print} /<title>/{match($0,/<title>(.*)<\/title>/,a);print a[1]}'

输出是：

但是对于|，将会打印更多信息，即那些被发送到 stderr 的信息，因为只有 stdout 被传送到下一个命令。在此示例中，除最后一行（Google）之外的所有行都由 curl 发送到 stderr：
